ATTRACTIONS 

Adventureland 

Adventureland resort is Iowa's largest amusement park featuring over 100 rides and attractions, including Adventure Bay water park and attached hotel. Adventureland looks forward to welcoming you for a safe summer full of fun! Rides are cleaned frequently, social distance spacing is in effect, and hand sanitizer stations are located throughout the park. Guests are encouraged to purchase tickets online in advance to minimize lines. Check out the Adventureland Resort Season Update page before you visit and to find out more. 

Prairie Meadows Casino Racetrack and Hotel 

Prairie Meadows Casino Racetrack and Hotel is open and ready to welcome you back. The casino and select dining establishments are open. Enjoy live horse racing on Friday and Saturday with post times starting at 6 p.m. and Sunday and Monday with post times beginning at 4 p.m. Guests are required to wear face coverings, or one will be provided upon request. Here are their reopening guidelines and things to know before your next visit. 

Blank Park Zoo 

Blank Park Zoo is open daily from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. with the last admission at 4 p.m. Guests are asked to pre-purchase any day ticket before visiting Blank Park Zoo. Visit the Blank Park Zoo's Reopening Strategy page to review safety measures or read their Enhanced Reopening Measures FAQ for visiting Blank Park Zoo during the Zoo's next reopening phase. 

Des Moines Art Center 

The Des Moines Art Center is open and asks visitors to reserve a time slot before visiting, with a limited number of walk-ups available. Admission is free, and face coverings are required.  Review the Des Moines Art Center Reopening Procedures before your next visit. 

Living History Farms 

Living History Farms, an interactive 500-acre open-air museum is open Monday – Saturday from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. You will find many of the same favorite sites and experiences, in addition to some new changes. Jordan Creek Town Center 

Jordan Creek Town Center, the largest shopping complex in Iowa, is ready to welcome you back. Jordan Creek is working diligently to provide a safe, clean environment where guests feel comfortable shopping. New measures have been implemented to help ensure the health and safety for all who enter the Mall, including hand-sanitizing stations, touch-free interactions, frequent and intense cleanings, and social distancing. View the Safety Measures and a list of Jordan Creek Town Center's open stores and curbside pickup options

Science Center of Iowa 

The Science Center of Iowa is now open to the public on Saturdays and Sundays. Their Reopening Plan is rooted in science and adheres to guidance from public health officials. Precautions include timed ticketing, required face coverings for visitors ages 5 and up, health screenings upon entry, and restricted access to “high-touch” exhibits. SCI is open only on weekends, and advance tickets are required to ensure space for distancing and time for enhanced sanitation.

Greater Des Moines Botanical Garden 

Greater Des Moines Botanical Garden admission is offered exclusively by advanced online reservation/timed ticketing through the Garden's website or over the phone. The Garden has implemented numerous policies and procedures in accordance with current health guidelines and best practices, which can be viewed on their reopening webpage

Smash Park 

Smash Park, an "eatertainment" venue with Iowa's largest patio, is open for business. Here are a few highlights of what they are doing to ensure your safety. Reserve a pickleball court here, or order your Contactless Curbside here

Historic Jordan House Museum 

The historic Jordan House Museum is open for self-guided tours every Friday and Sunday. No more than 10 people will be able to tour at one time. There will be two 75-minute opportunities Friday and Sunday, from 11 a.m. - 12:15 p.m. and 1 - 2:15 p.m. For additional details, please visit the West Des Moines Historical Society's website to plan your visit

Salisbury House & Gardens 

The Salisbury House & Gardens museum is open to the public with new hours. To minimize contact and encourage social distancing, a maximum number of 15 guests will be allowed in the House during each entry time. Walk-ins for each scheduled tour time are subject to availability. Guided Tours have been suspended until further notice. State Historical Museum of Iowa 

The State Historical Museum of Iowa is now open to the public. Admission is complimentary, and masks are required. Learn more about the museum and its hours here.   

Boone & Scenic Valley Railroad 

The Boone & Scenic Valley Railroad is requiring masks or face shields in the depot, museum, and common areas aboard the train and is operating with a modified schedule. See their current schedule listed on their homepage.  

Iowa State Capitol 

The Iowa State Capitol is open for self-guided tours Monday – Saturday, 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. Visit the tour desk for a map and overview of open rooms. Masks are encouraged.  

Center Grove Orchard 

Open three weeks earlier than usual, taste the season at Center Grove Orchard, and enjoy all kinds of fun farm activities! Pick your own sunflowers, bottle feed baby goats, zip down the giant slide, test your strength on the tractor pull, navigate the corn maze and grab a few apple cider donuts for the ride home. Geisler Farms 

Celebrate fall by visiting a real Iowa farm just outside of Des Moines. Geisler Farms offers the 15th annual corn maze and fall festival on the weekends during September and October. Explore the 10-acre corn maze. Search for the perfect farm grown pumpkin. Enjoy more than 30 family-friendly activities including farm favorites big slide, jump pad, and rubber duck races. Experience our new activities including a ring the hook game and a 9 foot tall big chair. Groups of 10 or more may reserve one of three fire pits. Restrooms and food are inside the Red Shed.

Movie Theaters 

Movie theaters around the metro are ready to welcome you back to the big screen. Check out Flix Brewhouse, where they’ll deliver tasty bites and cold craft brews right to your seat! Des Moines Community Playhouse 

The Des Moines Playhouse is excited to welcome guests back into the building on a limited basis, with show capacity at less than 35%.
