On top of its diverse attraction and restaurant scene, West Des Moines also has great recreation options! Check out some of our favorite parks below.
PEARSON PARK
Pearson Park is a small neighborhood park filled with trees. With all the shade it's a great place to spend hours relaxing on warm summer days. This park also has a jungle gym, basketball court, water fountain and footbridge. Make sure to stop by during the spring when all the daffodils are in full-bloom.
WALNUT WOODS STATE PARK
Walnut Woods encompasses 260-acres of wooded land along the Raccoon River. Whether you're looking to fish, float, camp, hike, or just relax, Walnut Wood State Park has something for everyone to enjoy.
SOUTHWOODS PARK
Southwoods Park is a West Des Moines hidden gem. This park has multiple trails weaving through it and some even lead to splashing spots. The park also has a nine-hole disc golf course. So take on the disc golf course with a buddy or bring the kids to play in one of the splashing spots - Southwoods Park is sure to surprise you!
RACCOON RIVER PARK
Here, the opportunities are endless. Raccoon River Park's 631 acres are home to a soccer complex, softball complex, picnic shelters, playground, multi-use trail, nature lodge, dog park, archery facility, ice rink, 232-acre lake, fishing pier, boat ramp and beach.
