    In September 2009, the 4.4-acre John and Mary Pappajohn Sculpture Park opened in Des Moines’ Western Gateway Park. Philanthropists John and Mary Pappajohn provided funding for and donated 31 sculptures by internationally acclaimed contemporary artists to the Des Moines Art Center. The Pappajohn Sculpture Park is a collaboration of the Pappajohns, the City of Des Moines, the Des Moines Art Center, and numerous corporate and private donors.

    • Hours of Operation: The sculpture park is open during city park hours, which are sunrise to midnight.
    • Season: The Pappajohn Sculpture Park is open year round. Guided tours are available from April 1 through October 31.

    • Tour Length: Tours are typically one hour unless otherwise noted.
    • Tour Times: Guided tours are available upon request with at least three weeks advance notice. Drop-in tours are offered the second Monday of each month from 12:30 – 1 pm and the fourth Friday of each month from 2:30 – 3 pm from April through October.
