Celebrate Ankeny presented by Karl Chevrolet and in partnership with Ankeny SummerFest will take place on Saturday, July 10, 2021, complete with a coloring contest, bands, and fireworks.
“The decision to host Celebrate Ankeny this year in place of Ankeny SummerFest took hours of careful deliberation,” said Julie Todtz, President & CEO of the Ankeny Area Chamber of Commerce, which organizes the event. “We look forward to providing a fun evening for our community to safely celebrate Ankeny with some of our traditional activities.”
Celebrate Ankeny will allow attendees to enjoy a night of music and friends, while remaining socially distanced with reduced attendance and seating. Community members can register for a private space that will hold up to 10 people. This will be a gated event and a space must be reserved in advance.
Food and beverages will be available for purchase during the event, which takes place in the entertainment garden from 5:00 pm to midnight. The fireworks show presented by Karl Chevrolet will start at 9:30 pm. Fireworks will be in the same location as previous years. The annual coloring contest will also take place. Coloring sheets will be available at a later date.
“The health and safety of our community, volunteers, and staff is our highest priority,” said Tania Bowman, 2021 Celebrate Ankeny Chair.
“Although we aren’t hosting our full Ankeny SummerFest weekend, we are excited to celebrate with an enhanced experience!”
Additional event details, including how to reserve a space, will be announced soon. Please visit www.ankenysummerfest.org or the Ankeny SummerFest Facebook page for all announcements.
