Over in West Des Moines, Gilroy's is giving moms (and their families) two brunches to celebrate this holiday! On Saturday, May 9 from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. and Sunday, May 10 from 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m., get “all you care to eat” brunch with bottomless beverages for everyone! Mulberry Street Tavern
Moms and their families can celebrate Mother’s Day at the ever-artsy Surety Hotel with Mulberry Street Tavern’s Mother’s Day brunch! On Saturday, May 9 and Sunday, May 10 from 10 a.m.-3 p.m., enjoy a special chef-curated menu of unique brunch selections (like a strawberry love roll, mom’s casserole, and more) and cocktails that are sure to put a “pep” in her step. Head over to Altoona where AJ’s Steakhouse is putting on an unforgettable Mother’s Day brunch. This year, Jethro’s is hosting Mother’s Day brunch buffets at three select locations. From 9 a.m.-2 p.m. on Sunday, May 10, you and your mom can go to their Ames, Ankeny, and West Des Moines locations for an all you can eat brunch featuring slow-cooked BBQ favorites like prime rib, wings, and brisket along with brunch classics like salmon, an omelet station, and more! Tickets are $26.95 for adults and kids 12 and under are $12.95. No reservations are required, so come early!
Big Grove Brewery
Celebrate mom with brunch at Big Grove on Sunday, May 10 from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Their special Mother’s Day menu will include crepes and quiches, breakfast sandwiches, biscuits and gravy, a breakfast platter, and lemon ricotta French toast. (Plus, moms get a free mimosa!) Kassia Fleur Bloom Bar will also be providing a bouquet bar from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. while supplies last. Johnny’s Italian Steakhouse

Johnny’s Italian Steakhouse on Fleur in Des Moines is hosting a Mother’s Day brunch for the ages on Sunday, May 10 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tickets are $44 for adults, $20 for kids ages 6-12, and kids under 6 are free! The Iowa Cubs are doing Mother’s Day a little differently this year...with brunch at the ballpark! On Sunday, May 10th, you can choose one of two brunch times (10:30 a.m. or noon) and bring mom to an experience she’ll never forget. Sit down for delicious food to celebrate your mom at the Pella Left Field Lounge and get Capital Reserve game tickets to attend any Iowa Cubs game through the end of May. Is there anything fancier than brunch at a hotel? Park Street Kitchen in the downtown Des Moines Hilton is offering a Mother’s Day brunch buffet on Sunday, May 10th. Mothers and their kids can enjoy additional bottomless mimosas and a Bloody Mary bar. And if the weather is nice, their outdoor patio is a great space to cheers to another year of motherhood. Pamper Mother’s Day at Iowa Distilling Company
Head out to Cumming for a day full of pampering for you and your mom. With a focus on women-owned businesses, Iowa Distilling is hosting a vendor's market from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. on Saturday, May 9. Vendors include Color Street Nails, VIVID Spa, Blind Date with a Book, and Velarosa Women’s Bike Group. There will be live music, permanent jewelry options, and the Rebel Chick BBQ food truck will be on site for lunch.
Mother's Day Free Visit Day + Bouquet Bar
The Greater Des Moines Botanical Garden is offering a complimentary general admission to all moms on Sunday, May 10. If you’re looking for an activity to do with mom after brunch, or before dinner, wander the beautiful gardens! While you’re there, check out the bouquet bar where you can personalize and put together your own petite bouquet for your mom. This activity is offered from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at $12 per bouquet.
Motherhood & Mozart: A Tribute
Honor the mother in your life with an afternoon at the orchestra. The Des Moines Community Orchestra has curated a repertoire of Mozart and other pieces that speak to the human emotion of what it means to be a mother. This free, family-friendly concert will take place on Sunday, May 10 from 2 p.m.-4 p.m. at Staplin Auditorium at Valley High School.
National Dog Mom Day at Paws & Pints
All moms deserve to be celebrated this weekend, even the ones with four legs! Paws & Pints is putting on a day of activities to honor both moms and dog moms in the metro.
