It’s o(fish)ally fish Friday season! Many Greater Des Moines restaurants have weekly specials that let you get the best catch during this season. We’ve compiled a list of all the delicious specials and fish/seafood items from around the metro to keep you celebrating through Lent!

Hessen Haus
“All You Can Eat Fish or Shrimp and Chips” — Choose between all you can eat fish, shrimp, or do a combination of both, available every Friday of Lent. Every day during Lent you can order their fish & chips, Haus fish tacos, Haus shrimp tacos, or crab cakes. 

Fong’s Pizza
Check out the Bang Bang shrimp, Cajun shrimp, or the Blackened Bayou Blaze pizza (Lent version) — creamy Cajun alfredo, blackened shrimp, layered shredded mozzarella & red onion, roasted red peppers, and green peppers.

Royal Mile
A Royal Mile fish & chips punch card will get you a free order of fish & chips with the purchase of five orders, available until April 2!

Jethro’s BBQ
Every Friday during Lent, “all you can eat” fish with all the fixins. Or grab a full pound shrimp dinner for just $17.95 at select locations.

The Chicken

Truman’s Tavern

Tournament Club of Iowa
Change things up a bit on your Fish Friday with Lent specials such as shrimp pasta with goat cheese, tomatoes, mushrooms, or Flounder fish tacos.  

Lachele’s Fine Foods
Every Friday, be on the lookout on their socials for rotating fish sandwiches during Lent! One of their past fish specials has included “Hooked on Olives”.  

Singlespeed Brewing & Taproom
Catch the “filet-o-speed", a beer-battered white fish sandwich with malt vinegar infused tartar sauce, American cheese, and coleslaw.

Gateway Market
Available only through Lent, get a fried fish po-boy made from Basa with spiced remoulade, lettuce and tomato on a butter-toasted South Union bakery roll and your choice of side. 

District 36 Wine Bar & Grill
For $33, chow down on a plate of Salmon Rockefeller; grilled salmon topped with buttered spinach, breadcrumbs, parmesan, and your choice of soup/salad with a side! Only available on Fridays. 

Baratta’s
Every Friday during Lent, Baratta’s will be promoting a special on one of their many seafood dishes. Check out their Bang Bang shrimp, Cajun seafood pasta, Boursin cheese-stuffed mushrooms, and more! 

Iowa Taproom
Pulling out all the stops, choose your fish Friday at Iowa Taproom with fish and chips, shrimp and chips, fish tacos, blackened salmon tacos, shrimp and scallop pasta, lobster artichoke melt, lobster and artichoke dip, or a salmon salad!  

Z’s Eatery
Their Friday night Lent specials include a beer-battered haddock with two sides or kick it up a notch with a platter of lobster risotto served with your choice of side salad. 

Gilroy’s
To add to their existing seafood repertoire, Friday fish nights for Lent will now include the classic fish and chips with a side of coleslaw.  

The Latin King
Try something new with a special coastal dish called Seafood Positano, only served on Fridays during Lent. 

Centro
If one wasn’t enough (and likely won’t be), Centro has their own “Cod-Father,” a Friday Lent lunch special consisting of an Icelandic cod filet with parmesan tempura crust, Calabrian chili tartar sauce, pickles and shredded lettuce all on a South Union bun.
