Des Moines Holiday Boutique  

The Des Moines Holiday Boutique returns to the Iowa Events Center November 7 — 9. Spend the weekend browsing hundreds of vendors offering everything from clothing and jewelry to home décor, gourmet treats, and festive holiday decorations. Tickets are $14, but you can save $2 when you purchase online before the show. Join the fun on Friday night for Girls Night Out, enjoy live holiday music, explore the Iowa Wine Village and Holiday Man Cave, and don’t forget to visit Santa. Iowa Wolves    

It’s time for tip-off with the Iowa Wolves, Des Moines’ NBA G League affiliate of the Minnesota Timberwolves! The team opens its season on Friday, November 7, at Wells Fargo Arena against the Cleveland Charge, and the first 1,500 fans will receive a free t-shirt. Disney on Ice 

Disney on Ice returns to Casey’s Center November 27 — 30. Disney On Ice will feature two favorites this year, Frozen and Encanto. Experience the magic as Anna, Elsa, Mirabel, and the Madrigal family glide across the ice in an unforgettable performance. See your favorite movies come to life on ice, with tickets starting at $21. Highland Underground  

The newest addition to Highland Park’s food and drink scene is officially open beneath the historic Klein’s Department Store. Highland Underground brings groovy 1970s vibes, creative cocktails, and a fondue-focused menu to its retro-inspired basement lounge. The lounge is also covered in vintage clothing, all of which are for sale. Open Wednesday — Sunday on a first-come, first-served basis; this spot is sure to become a new cocktail lounge favorite.

Downtown Winter Farmers’ Market 

The Downtown Winter Farmers’ Market returns to the Iowa Events Center November 21 — 23. This festive indoor market brings together dozens of Iowa artisans, farmers, and makers offering everything from late season produce, meats, cheeses and baked goods to one-of-a-kind holiday gifts, winter décor and handcrafted art. It’s free and open to the public, so it’s the perfect way to support local businesses, find unique treasures, and soak up some seasonal cheer all in one spot. 

Dome for the Holidays

If you’re looking for a little warmth this holiday season, head to the Greater Des Moines Botanical Garden for Dome for the Holidays. Stroll through thousands of twinkling lights, admire a festive train display, explore a LEGO replica of the dome, experience the new igloo installation, and more. The event runs from November 15 through January 4. Tickets are $17 for adults, $11 for children, and Botanical Garden members receive a $3 discount. Reserve your spot for this holiday magic today! 

Hy-Vee Holiday Parade 

Kick off the holiday season in style at the Hy-Vee Holiday Parade on Saturday, November 29! This festive parade winds through 1.25 miles of downtown and packs two hours of nonstop holiday cheer. Enjoy lively marching bands, dazzling dance teams, giant balloons, colorful floats, and plenty of giveaways for the whole family. The best part? This supports a great cause, with a portion of proceeds benefiting Feeding America to help fight food insecurity across Iowa. Join the thousands who’ll be lining the streets and make this parade part of your holiday tradition!

Turkey Trot  

Looking to become a 5k on holidays type of family? The Turkey Trot is the perfect place to start your yearly holiday running journey. Returning for their 11th year, the Turkey Trot is a 5k or 5-mile race around downtown on Thanksgiving morning. All participants will receive a stocking cap and commemorative finisher ornament, just in time for decorating your tree. Not wanting to start your Thanksgiving morning with a run?
