Public is Invited to Greet Phil at 2:30 p.m.
Colby Park
Sunday April 19, 2009

Windsor Heights’ residents can see the host of the hit series, The Amazing Race, on Sunday, April 19. This unique opportunity is open to the public. Greater Des Moines is one of 30 major stops on Phil’s first-ever, coast-to-coast, 3,500-mile ride across the nation.

Phil is expected to arrive at approximately 2:30 p.m. in Colby Park, where he will be joined by some additional bicyclists. He will then travel on to the State Capitol West Terrace for a welcome celebration where the public can meet and greet him. Phil will also be available for autographs and photographs.

Television crews are filming Phil’s Ride Across America and it will be an opportunity to showcase the new Performance Pavilion at Colby Park as well as the extensive Greater Des Moines Recreational Trail System.

Phil’s ride is raising awareness and funds for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society (MS) and healthy living, presented by GNC.

Central Iowa bike teams will join Phil as he enters the trail system at Redfield. Bikers will continue to join Phil as he rides through Adel, Waukee, Clive, Windsor Heights and to Des Moines’ Gray’s Lake. The ride continues along the Meredith Trail, through downtown and ends at the State Capitol West Terrace.

Please encourage the public to join us for this exciting event. Visit www.philridesacrossamerica.com for more information about the ride. Organizers for the local event include GNC Stores, area cities, National Multiple Sclerosis Society, KCCI News Channel 8, Greater Des Moines Convention and Visitors Bureau, Greater Des Moines Partnership, and the Downtown Community Alliance.

We are excited that Phil will stop briefly in Colby Park and hope to give him a terrific Windsor welcome!
