Historic Valley Junction will hold its annual Spring Art Market from 11 a.m. - 5 p.m. Sunday, May 17. One hundred Iowa and regional artists and craftspeople will have their booths located on 5th Street in West Des Moines, in the heart of Historic Valley Junction. This year's Art Market artists come from eight states.

A wide variety of items will be available at this juried art show, including paintings, prints, sculpture, photography, pottery, jewelry, furniture, clothing, stained glass, fiber and much more.

Musical entertainment will be part of the festivities as well, with performances by Mary McAdams, playing acoustic folk and traditional Americana, from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m.; Mikiel Williams, performing music inspired by New Orleans, from 1-3 p.m. and folk musician Joel Kinser from 3-5 p.m.

With the help of Valley Junction and West Bank, Glenda Johnson will be offering an assortment of fun Spring art activities for children including tie-dye butterflies, pinwheels to decorate, keys chains, scratch art, and a Spring craft surprise. There will also be an exhibition featuring artwork by elementary school students from West Des Moines Community Schools.

Historic Valley Junction is six square blocks of antique and specialty shops, art galleries, fashion boutiques, hair salons, service businesses, and restaurants. Many of these businesses will be open to the public during Art Market.

The Art Market will be held rain or shine. Admission is free.
