DES MOINES, IA – More than 20,000 people dined in the fifth annual Des Moines Restaurant Week August 17-26, contributing $285,000 in economic impact. This was an increase over 2011 where an estimated 19,000 visited Greater Des Moines restaurants, leaving around a quarter of a million dollars to the Greater Des Moines economy.

Restaurants offered special prix-fixed menus at $25 for two lunches or one dinner. Diners were invited to save at least four receipts from their dining experience with the participating restaurants and enter to win a trip for two to California’s Sonoma County. Ron and Bonnie Millard of West Des Moines were this year’s winners.

The 6th annual Des Moines Restaurant Week will take place August 16-25, 2013.

This year’s sponsors included Doll Distributing, Hockenbergs Food Service, Iowa Beef Industry Council, Pearl Vodka, Sysco Food Services and Tassel Ridge Winery.

Restaurant Week is organized by Des Moines Business Record, dsm Magazine and the Greater Des Moines Convention and Visitors Bureau. Public comments and feedback on Restaurant Week may be sent to marketing@desmoinescvb.com.
