DES MOINES, Iowa (August 27, 2021) – USA Swimming has unveiled its schedule for the 2021-2022 season and Des Moines is set to host the TYR Pro Swim Series at the MidAmerican Energy Aquatic Center at the Wellmark YMCA March 2 – 5, 2022. Des Moines has hosted the event in years past, bringing hundreds of the world’s top swimmers to the metro.

“We are honored that USA Swimming will be bringing TYR Pro Swim Series to Des Moines for another year. We enjoy hosting world class athletes and Olympians in our city and showing them what Des Moines has to offer,” said Greg Edwards, CEO and President of Catch Des Moines. “We have great facilities to host such events, and we are glad USA Swimming recognizes that.”

“We are thrilled to welcome the TYR Pro Swim Series back to Des Moines and the Y for a third time,” said Leisha Barcus, President and CEO of the YMCA of Greater Des Moines. “The opportunity to host the best swimmers in the world raises the profile of Des Moines on the national swimming stage, provides millions in economic benefit to the city, and gives our residents and local swimmers a chance to be inspired by world-class athletes and Olympians.”

On the heels of its successful showing at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020, USA Swimming’s 22-event schedule features National Championships, USA Swimming Championship Series events, an international Trials qualifying competition, and the return of the 18&Under Spring Cup, following its successful debut in the Spring of 2021.

“We are investing in quality competitions for our athletes and striving to provide a top domestic calendar. We will remain fluid in our planning, to ensure we are hosting the best events in the safest possible manner,” said USA Swimming President & CEO Tim Hinchey III.

All local, state, and federal health guidelines will be strictly adhered to at each competition site, and entry limits and spectator access will reflect these local restrictions.
