Des Moines, Iowa residents will soon get the star treatment as low-cost airline, Allegiant Air, LLC, today announces new, nonstop jet service to Los Angeles from Des Moines International Airport beginning May 24. Allegiant is celebrating the sunny new service by offering fares as low as $99* one-way to the “City of Angels” known for sun, surf, sightseeing and celebrities.

“We're pleased to bring yet another affordable and convenient way for the Des Moines and Central Iowa communities to go on vacation to a sunny destination,” Maurice J. Gallagher, Allegiant Air president & CEO, said. “This is an exciting new addition for our airline and our customers as we launch the only nonstop, all jet service between Des Moines and Los Angeles.”

The new flights will operate two times weekly between Des Moines and Los Angeles International Airport with service Thursday and Sunday. Beginning May 24, flights will depart Des Moines at 8:20 p.m. arriving in Los Angeles at 9:50 p.m. Flights leaving Los Angeles will depart at 2:25 p.m. arriving in Des Moines at 7:40 p.m. (all flight times are local). Allegiant Air provides nonstop service from Des Moines to three other destinations; Las Vegas, Orlando, Fla. and Tampa Bay, Fla.

The Allegiant Vacations division of the company will offer low-cost packages with more than six of the Los Angeles area’s most exciting hotel properties, including: Sheraton Universal Hotel, Westin Bonaventure Hotel & Suites, Hyatt Regency Long Beach, Hyatt Regency Newport Beach, Marina del Ray Marriott and The Westin Los Angeles Airport.

Allegiant’s $99* one-way introductory fare is limited, must be purchased by March 11, 2009 and is valid for travel through Sept. 30, 2009. Introductory fares are not available on all flights. After the introductory fare period, regular one-way fares on the route start as low as $119 one-way. Allegiant will utilize 150-seat, MD-80 series, jet-aircraft on the route.
