The Greater Des Moines Convention and Visitors Bureau anticipates the economic impact of visitors in Greater Des Moines to reach more than $53.9 million this June.

With more than 600,000 attendees expected between 16 key events alone, Greater Des Moines will have more to offer in the 30 days of June than ever before.

A few of the major events planned for June include the Principal Charity Classic (May 28 – June 2), the World Pork Expo (June 4-7), the USA Outdoor Track & Field Championships (June 19-23) and the US Youth Soccer Association’s Region II Championship (June 21-26). New in 2013, Greater Des Moines is hosting both the Iowa High School tournament for boys’ and girls’ state soccer.

“June has always been busy in Greater Des Moines, but this year we’ve taken it to a new level,” says Greg Edwards, President and CEO of the Greater Des Moines Convention and Visitors Bureau/Des Moines Areas Sports Commission. “We’ve jam packed June with an event nearly every single day of the month. The region will be buzzing with activity and entertainment for all ages.”

“From hotels and restaurants, attractions and shopping destinations and everything in between—the local community will certainly reap the financial benefit from the events happening this June.” Edwards adds.
