WEST DES MOINES, IA (April 16, 2026)  USA Curling announced today that the 2027 USA Curling Men’s & Women’s National Championships will be held in West Des Moines, Iowa, with games taking place at the MidAmerican Energy RecPlex.


The 2027 championships, scheduled for January 24th through the 30th, will bring together the nation’s top men’s and women’s curling teams as they compete for coveted national titles and the opportunity to represent the United States on the international stage.


A Milestone for Curling in Iowa.

This marks the first time the MidAmerican Energy Recplex has hosted the flagship national event of the National Governing Body for the sport. The Recplex is poised to offer athletes and fans an exceptional championship experience.


“Both in Des Moines area and throughout Iowa, we have seen tremendous enthusiasm for our sport,” said USA Curling CEO Dean Gemmell. “The MidAmerican Energy RecPlex is an outstanding, modern venue, and we’re excited to partner with them on our marquee championship. The field will include Olympians who will be familiar to sports fans, along with talented up-and-comers, and fans who have watch the sport on television won’t want to miss an opportunity to see it in person.”


Gemmell added, “Coming out of the Olympics and Paralympics, our sport is surging in popularity, and these championships will capitalize on that. We’re also excited to work with the dedicated curlers in Des Moines. They are working towards a full-time curling facility—that would be terrific recreational asset for the community and a terrific legacy for this event.”


West Des Moines can anticipate a significant influx of competitors, fans, families, and media. The event is expected to generate economic impact for local hotels, restaurants, and businesses, as curling fans from around the country will travel to watch the country’s best compete.
