Bring the whole family for a day of fun and learning.

Ambassador's St.Patrick's Day Dinner

Head out to the Za-Ga-Zig Shrine on Friday, March 13, and enjoy dinner with your little leprechauns at the Ambassador's St. Patrick's Day Dinner. Grab a hot plate of traditional Irish corned beef & cabbage, chips, and hot dogs for the kids. Dinner will be served from 5-7 p.m. Admission is $10 per person with kids admission $5 for those five and under! All proceeds benefit the Za-Ga-Zig Shrine.

Botanical Garden

Jump into spring by stepping inside the dome of the Greater Des Moines Botanical Garden. The Garden invites visitors to indulge in nature's beauty all year round. On Friday make sure to check out Story Sprouts and come back Sunday for Botanical Blues! Featuring artist Bryce Janey on March 15, The Garden has an activity for people of all ages.

Iowa Wild vs. San Antonio Rampage

Have an avid sports fan in the family? Check out Wells Fargo Arena for a weekend of semi-pro sports. The Iowa Wild takes on the San Antonio Rampage Sunday, March 15. While you're there, make sure to stop by the concession stands to grab a snack and stick around for the post-game skate.

Singin' In the Rain

Catch a show full of family fun with Singin' In the Rain at the Des Moines Community Playhouse. Silent movies are out. "Talkies" are in! Unfortunately for famed movie star Don Lockwood, his leading lady's comically harsh and squeaky voice is ill-suited for the switch. When their next film is converted into a talking picture, the studio must bring in aspiring actress Kathy Selden to voice all of its female star's speaking and singing parts. Tickets start at $29, with showtimes starting Friday, March 13.

St. Patrick's Day Parade

The St. Patrick's Day Parade is a staple for the Greater Des Moines community and a must-watch for anyone in town on Tuesday, March 17. See all things Irish as lads and lasses stroll through the parade route following floats and handing out green beads. You may even spot a leprechaun or two! The parade starts at noon.

Science Center

If you're looking to experiment, check out the Science Center of Iowa! SCI is great for families and individuals of all ages. One minute you're exploring Iowa's native habitats, the next you're a TV sensation! Stop over to the WHO-HD weather studio to live out your dreams as a newscaster and try your hand at forecasting weather in front of the green screen. Make sure you stop and play at the new Brick by Brick exhibit! Build and test structures to withstand earthquakes and heavy winds, explore unconventional LEGO building techniques to solve design challenges and more
