Association Management Ltd. and the Iowa Soybean Association are partnering together with the Greater Des Moines Convention and Visitors Bureau to host the Association Management Companies (AMCs) Regional Forum and Iowa Experience through tomorrow, Tuesday, May 6. The educational and networking event will bring nearly 50 attendees from across the U.S. and Canada, representing more than 200 professional associations throughout the world. Also sponsoring the event are the Louisville, Kentucky; Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Alberta, Canada convention and visitors bureaus.
The primary goals of the event are to provide AMCs with an education opportunity, a fun Iowa experience, and networking with their peers. AMCs are an outsourcing solution, providing strategic association expertise and leadership, a headquarters infrastructure, executive director, financial management, meeting planning and much more for their association clients.
“We’re pleased to host our industry peers for this very unique two-day Iowa experience,” says Molly Lopez, CAE, President of Association Management, Ltd. in Ankeny. “While here, they’ll learn from a national speaker, experience the pulse of Greater Des Moines and enjoy genuine hospitality at an Iowa farm.”
Notable opportunities the attendees will experience include:
- Iowa barbeque and Farm-to-Table Experience at the Ron Heck Family Farm
- Community outreach project with Meals from the Heartland
- Speaker John Spence, one of the Top 100 Business Thought Leaders in America
- An overnight stay at the Hotel Pattee
“This is a golden opportunity to provide the Iowa experience to national and international meeting and convention decision influencers,” says Vicki Comegys, Vice President of Conventions, Sports, and Services for the Greater Des Moines Convention and Visitors Bureau. “It is our hope, by showcasing all Greater Des Moines has to offer, these AMCs’ clients will select our city as host of future events.”
A mini-conference quite like this has never been held before. The buzz surrounding the event has garnered AMC Institute’s endorsement, providing continuing education credits for Certified Association Executives (CAE), and stating the inaugural event may be a model for future opportunities.
