DES MOINES, IA - Iowans are encouraged to support an event that the Greater Des Moines Convention and Visitors Bureau (GDMCVB) has been working to secure for 15 years. The Gold Wing Road Riders Association's Wing Ding 32 is rolling into Greater Des Moines for the first time. The event runs June 30-July 3, 2010 with a tradeshow, demonstrations and No-Zone Trailer being based on 5th Street and in the parking lot north of Veterans Memorial Auditorium in Downtown Des Moines.
The public is encouraged to attend the following events:
- Wing Ding 32 Welcome Party, Prairie Meadows Racetrack and Casino, Tuesday, June 29, 6-8 p.m., Free.
- Light Parade, Historic Valley Junction, Thursday, July 1, 9:30 p.m., Free.
- Wing Ding 32 Tradeshow, Friday, July 2, 9 a.m. - 6 p.m., Locals receive $5 off admission.
- Grand Parade, Downtown Des Moines to Urbandale High School, Friday, July 2, 5:30 p.m., Free.
Free, printable "Welcome" signs are available. Locals can post these signs in their business or hold them while watching one of the parades.
"Community involvement and support is vital, especially with a group like this," said Greg Edwards, GDMCVB President, and CEO. "It's a very visible group and the more they feel welcomed by locals, the more likely Greater Des Moines could host Wing Ding again in the future."
Wing Ding 32 Overview
GWRRA's Wing Ding 32 is expected to bring 11,000 to 14,000 attendees into Greater Des Moines for the event which runs June 30-July 3, 2010. This is the first time Greater Des Moines is hosting Wing Ding.
