Fifteen years of hard work, persistence and collaboration is paying off today as the Gold Wing Road Riders Association (GWRRA) announces the Annual Summer National Wing Ding will be held in Greater Des Moines June 30-July 3, 2010.

About 11,000 Honda Gold Wing and Valkyrie motorcyclists will roll through Greater Des Moines a year from now.  The convention will take place at the Iowa Events Center in Downtown Des Moines.  Two parades, a night-time parade complete with lighted motorcycles and a 9-mile long, continuously-rolling parade that is expected to break the Guinness Book of World Records, will be routed through Downtown and the surrounding neighborhoods.

“This has truly been a team effort,” said Greg Edwards, Greater Des Moines Convention and Visitors Bureau (GDMCVB) President and CEO.  “Our team has been working closely with the hotels, Iowa Events Center, City of Des Moines, Gary Fox and the Transportation Division, police department and fire department to make this happen.”

Vicki Comegys, GDMCVB Vice President of Sales and Services, has personally been working on this project for 15 years.  “We are thrilled to host Wing Ding 32 in Greater Des Moines.  GWRRA decided now is the time to hold this event here due to our affordability, central location and progressive downtown with amazing amenities and green space.”

Melissa Eason, GWRRA Executive Director, said in a newsletter to all GWRRA members, “For those of you who have not been to Des Moines, it is a beautiful city with twin rivers and brand new facilities.  The riding in the area is surprisingly beautiful with rolling hills, fantastic food and fabulous restaurants.”

Wing Ding 32 will coincide with Goodguys 19th Heartland Rod and Custom Nations, which runs July 2-4, 2010.
