The Greater Des Moines Convention and Visitors Bureau (GDMCVB) has been named as one of the 2012 Top Destination Award winners from Facilities & Destinations magazine. The planners of meetings, conventions and tradeshows have direct input on who receives this Award of Excellence.

The following criteria were used to determine the winners:
  • Quality of staff
  • Amenities
  • Recreational activities
  • Dining and entertainment options
  • Lodging quality
  • Accessibility to airport
  • Ease of travel within destination
  • Attractiveness and functionality of meeting venue
  • Size and quality of meeting space
  • Technological capabilities
  • Food and beverage options
  • Lighting, acoustics and Internet access
  • Other meeting/event support services
“This is a great honor for everyone involved in the hospitality industry in our area,” said Greg Edwards, President and CEO of the GDMCVB. “The fact that meeting planners decide who receives this award further demonstrates the appreciation visitors have for our meeting venues, hotels, attractions and city overall.”

Voting was conducted in 2011, and the 2012 awards were officially announced in the 2012 Facilities & Destinations SuperBook issue. To view a copy of the SuperBook online, visit http://issuu.com/facilitiesonline/docs/2012fdsb and go to page 39.
