Located a few miles east of Des Moines, the city of Bondurant will surely win you over with its quaint charm. Need a few ideas to get your exploration started?

Chichaqua Valley Trail

Stretching 25 miles from Berwick to Baxter, the fully paved Chichaqua Valley Trail is perfect for runners, cyclists, rollerbladers, and all other non-motorized methods of transportation. Due to its railroad origins, mile markers to Kansas City can be found along the trail. The railroad route was abandoned in 1984 and reopened as a recreational trail in 1987. In addition to the mile markers, the trail features stone bridges dating back to 1885. The Polk County trailhead is located just south of Highway 65 at 8123 NE 88th St. in Bondurant. Parking is available at the Polk County trailhead, Mally's Park in Berwick, and at towns along the trail.

Geisler Farms

Pumpkin patches, corn mazes, Christmas trees, and the fun zone make for festive gaiety at Geisler Farms. Children and adults of all ages will be thrown into the holiday spirit as they experience everything the 10 acres has to offer. Make a day out of it by bringing a picnic to enjoy on the acreage - if you forget your snacks, not a problem! On the weekends Geisler Farms has hot cocoa, cappuccinos, apple cider, popcorn, cookies, nachos, corndogs, and sliced apple pie to supplement your picnic needs.

Brickhouse Fitness

If you're looking to have fun and break another sweat while in Bondurant, you can't miss Brickhouse Fitness. This active establishment offers an old-school feel in a new-age building and hosts events like foot races, bike races and volleyball games.

Reclaimed Rails

Beer-loving outdoor enthusiasts rejoice! This microbrewery is located on the Chichaqua Valley Trail making it the perfect pit stop for those who are stretching their legs and enjoying the 25-mile route. Rooks' Breakfast Porter, Hipster Juice IPA, and Blood Orange Wheat are just a few of many tap options available at Reclaimed Rails. And townie tip: while you're savoring one of their handmade brews, consider having a BBQ sandwich smothered in Deadeye BBQ sauce delivered to you from the restaurant next door, Boxcar BBQ!
