DES MOINES, IA - The country's largest motorcycle parade, known as The Grand Parade, featuring Honda Gold Wing and Valkyrie motorcycles will take place in Greater Des Moines on Friday, July 2. A second parade, known as the Wing Ding Light Parade, also featuring Honda Gold Wing and Valkyrie motorcycles, will take place after dark on Thursday, July 1.

Light Parade
The Gold Wing Road Riders Association's (GWRRA) Wing Ding 32 Light Parade begins Thursday, July 1 at 9:30 p.m. About 100 motorcycles will be lit up with neon lights and roll through Historic Valley Junction. Locals are encouraged to attend and see the light show.

The Grand Parade

On Friday, July 2 at 5:30 p.m. about 800 motorcycles will begin a journey from the Polk County Convention Complex downtown, through 13 neighborhood associations and end at the Urbandale High School. The parade is expected to conclude at 7 p.m. Some GWRRA motorcyclists will perform an on-bike drill team performance outside of Urbandale High School immediately following the parade.

Locals are encouraged to be alert and watch for the motorcyclists throughout the parade routes. They're also asked to attend. Free, printable signs to wave at the parades are available at www.www.catchdesmoines.com/WingDing.

Wing Ding 32 Overview
GWRRA's Wing Ding 32 is expected to bring 11,000 to 14,000 attendees into Greater Des Moines for the event which runs June 30-July 3, 2010. This is the first time Greater Des Moines is hosting Wing Ding.
