Wizard World Comic Con has announced its 2015 convention schedule, with Des Moines hosting as one of nine new cities in its 22 show series. The Iowa Events Center will host more than 15,000 expected visitors during this three-day event—June 12-14, 2015. Des Moines has never before hosted the Wizard World Comic Con.

“The Des Moines Comic Con will bring a unique demographic to our region, with high spending potential and a three-day opportunity for major economic impact,” says Greg Edwards, President and CEO of the Greater Des Moines Convention and Visitors Bureau and Des Moines Area Sports Commission. “These passionate, costumed attendees will be extremely visual throughout the Metro. We’re expecting hotels, restaurants and entertainment districts—especially comic book stores—to experience an influx in visitors next June.”

Wizard World Comic Con events bring together fans both young and old to celebrate the best in pop-fi, pop culture, movies, graphic novels, comics, toys, video games, TV, sci-fi, gaming, original art, collectibles, contests and more. Events include the Wizard World Film Festival, comic-themed sessions, costume contest, movie screenings and evening parties.

Wizard World Comic Cons also bring special guest appearances like Lauren Cohan and Norman Reedus of AMC’s The Walking Dead, William Shatner of Star Trek, John Cena of WWE Wrestling, David Boreanaz of Bones and many more. Special guests for the Des Moines event will be announced in early 2015.
