Catch Fall Festivities in Des Moines
DES MOINES, IA - Today, the Greater Des Moines Convention and Visitors Bureau launched a fall marketing campaign encouraging visitors and locals to experience autumn in Greater Des Moines. The campaign includes a microsite: catchdesmoines.com/fall, social media advertising, giveaways and more. Last year's fall campaign resulted in more than 89,000 visitor inquiries in September and October, up by more than 4,000 from 2013.
"This campaign allows us to showcase all the fun things you can do in our city this time of year," says Greg Edwards, President and CEO of the Greater Des Moines Convention and Visitors Bureau and Des Moines Area Sports Commission. "Families can experience pumpkin patches, corn mazes and apple picking. Adults can stomp grapes at a local winery or catch football at one of our many locally-owned sports bars. We also have more than 600 miles of trails where you catch the changing fall colors on a bike, walk or run."
"Just because summer is over, doesn't mean that there are fewer things to do," adds Edwards.
The microsite, sponsored by Growing Family Fun at Geisler Farms (5251 NE 94th Avenue, Bondurant), features farms, orchards, wineries and breweries, trails and other fall events. Visitors to the microsite can also catch one free maze admission with three paid maze admissions, valid only at Geisler Farms.
Visitors and locals can also enter to win a Fall Giveaway to Greater Des Moines destinations, including MB2 Raceway, Inc., Climb Iowa, 515 Brewing Company and Des Moines Community Playhouse, plus admission and hayrides at Growing Family Fun at Geisler Farms.
The site will remain live through Saturday, October 31. Visit catchdesmoines.com/fall to find a complete list of fall festivities in Greater Des Moines and look for special blog posts and discounts at catchdesmoines.com/blog.
