Join the Des Moines Metro arts community for the 3rd annual artstop, a two-day celebration of local visual and performing arts. artstop includes the Historic East Village, Historic Valley Junction, Roosevelt Shopping District, Court Avenue, Ingersoll Avenue and Gateway West. artstop hours are Friday, September 11 from 5 to 9 p.m. and Saturday, September 12 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Forty-one galleries, performance centers, and artists’ studios are part of this year’s artstop. Special events such as exhibition openings, performances, artist demonstrations and live music will take place at many locations. Participants are encouraged to ride the artstop bus from district to district free of charge. artstop is an arts event created for the community by the community with the goal to inform, entertain and engage community members in the arts.

This year’s artstop will feature many more performances and demonstrations as part of an Iowa Community Cultural Grant received from the Iowa Department of Cultural Affairs. This grant has given artstop venues the opportunity to offer a multitude of special events by hiring Iowa musicians, performers and artists. Click here for a complete listing of special events.
