    Des Moines has been celebrating World Refugee Day since 2015. This is an United Nations event celebrated worldwide on and around June 20. Des Moines' celebration is organized by the members of the Refugee Alliance of Central Iowa. Each year, World Refugee Day Des Moines hosts the Cultural Celebration, an event showing off the talents and cuisine of refugees and immigrants in Iowa, and the Cup of All Nations soccer tournament. Many other events are also planned around World Refugee Day.
