Overview

Although the media has lately been under heavy scrutiny by some, the Commission believes that the media has a role in building community. That’s why as a precursor to the 32nd Annual Civil & Human Rights Symposium entitled: The Blueprint to Building Community we are hosting a media panel entitled “The Media’s Role in Building Community”. This two-hour panel features journalist and reporters speaking on the role the media plays in government and community, as well as stereotypes and media bias regarding different communities and persons in poverty.

Featuring:
Jodi Whitworth - WHO TV as the facilitator

Panelists Include:
Rekha Basu - Des Moines Register
Craig Robinson - Iowa Republican
Shekinah Young - City of Des Moines
Fabiola Schirrmeister - La Ley Radio
Kyle Munson - Des Moines Register
