  • Overview

“Revive the Live”, a collaboration of local concert promoter People’s Productions/Iowa Sound & Stage Struck Staging, is bringing a  series of concerts to Water Works park starting on July 17! These concerts will run through Saturday, August 8, with 2 shows to be held every Friday & Saturday in the rear event field at Waterworks Park. The format for the concert series will be in an old time drive-in movie theater style which is quick becoming a national trend for a “safe” way to see live music in the era of Covid-19.

“The idea started in Europe a few months ago & has subsequently made it to the United States & will soon be one of the few accepted models for hosting concerts in these trying times for musicians & music fans alike” says Tom Zmolek, People’s Productions (event organizer). “The idea has been successfully in operation in Omaha for two months & we have attended their events & are working with their organizers to figure out the nuances of the this new concept to be able to bring it to Des Moines”

The event operates much like a standard drive-in movie theater. You have the option of exiting your car & setting up in your “pod” outside of your drivers-side door or in the back end of your pickup with chairs/blankets. Or you can have a completely touch-free experience & pull in, hold your phone up to your window & we will scan your ticket. Then you'll be parked & you can watch the entire concert & listen to it on our FM transmitter station on your car stereo in the air conditioned comfort of your own car, then leave when the concert ends never having had contact with another person the entire time.

Concerts will last for 90 minutes – early shows are from 6 to 7:30 pm & late shows are from 8:30 to 10 pm – each artist will perform 2 shows per night. A food truck will be available on site to pick up various food items. Non-alcoholic beverages will also be for sale along with treats for the kids such as popcorn & ice cream.

Tickets for concert is $20 each with a $40 per car minimum (kids 12 & under are $10) and are available at .

The Lineup for the 4 week run is as follows :

July 17 – Elton & Billy (A tribute to Elton John & Billy Joel)
    July 18 – Decoy
July 24 – The Pork Tornadoes
    July 25 - B2Wins (The Brazilian Twins)
    Aug 1 – Jason Brown
Aug 7 – The Damon Dotson Band
Aug 8 - Winterland (Tribute to the Grateful Dead)

If successful the group plans on having another series in the fall.
