  • Overview

RAKU is a Japanese word often interpreted as "enjoyment" or "happiness," and is a form of ceramic art in which a piece is subjected to a post-fire reduction process using sawdust, paper or other materials to change its color and chemistry. No two pieces of RAKU pottery ever look alike! In this class, participants learn about RAKU pottery as well as glazing and firing techniques. Students select and glaze a piece of pottery and watch it being fired. This is a make-and-take activity with firing assistance from Robin Paul of Madhaus Gallery. Students can observe or simply participate for a few hours to create their piece(s). All supplies provided. Limit is 15 students $75 per person. First glass of wine (or other beverage) is on us! Snacks available to purchase while you create your pottery. Purchase tickets in advance at
