Now, at the times of the pandemic, finding a relatively safe sport for a kid is an understandable priority for any parent. And this is exactly the situation, where ice skating offers a relative safety advantage compared to many other youth sports.
There are many reasons that make this sport low risk for the virus spread.

    (1) Although figure skating is an indoor sport, a singles ice skating is NOT A CONTACT SPORT, and it is held in a very large space, where it is much easier to keep social distancing.
    (2) Skaters wear gloves.
    (3) In our case, if group settings, we will reduce the number of skaters per group and we will be wearing masks.
    (4) It is much easier to enforce mask wearing on a skating rink because in a cold "climate", masks do not present as much breathing difficulty.
    (5) Last but not least, figure skating is a sport that can be practiced all the year round, which makes it a great activity for kids, especially now that, due to te pandemic, kids are unable to engage in other high-risk sports and we are unable to take them on vacation as much as we used to.
