The weekly Farmers Market will begin Tuesday, May 26 in the parking lot near the Simpson Barn and Johnston Public Library on Tuesdays from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. through the beginning of October. The address is 6700 Merle Hay Road.
Due to COVID-19, the market will look a little different. The only vendors allowed, will be those selling produce or baked goods. There will be no entertainment, crafts or art available to purchase. We will notify residents of future changes with vendors.
Should you have questions regarding the market, please contact Judy Anderson at 515.278.0939 for more information.
Because of state guidelines around reopening during the coronavirus pandemic, the vendors can only sell food and farm items including produce, meat, baked goods, eggs, ice cream, coffee and honey, the market’s manager, Judy Anderson, said.
Reynolds also recommends continued social distancing and other precautions in public spaces. To meet those expectations, Anderson will post signage guiding people to walk through the market in a single direction and maintain distance, although there are no limits on kids or pets in attendance. There won't be live music, art or activities for the time being, she said.
Vendors’ stands will be at least 10 feet apart, she said, and many will use tape to mark off personal space for customers.
Customers are also urged to wear masks!
