    This free summer program wouldn’t be possible without the help of its premier sponsor, Principal Foundation, as well as expertise from our Jazz in July Arts Advisor John Krantz.

    Patrons are encouraged to bring a blankets/lawn chairs to spread out & enjoy the opening sets outside, and then, everyone is invited inside the historic theater for the second half. Attendees will be able to purchase food & beverages on site. Patrons are not allowed to bring their own alcohol; this must be purchased on site. Events will go on, rain or shine!

    YAALA BALLIN: Israeli-born jazz vocalist Yaala Ballin has earned the attention of critics & listeners alike for her clear sound & improvisational style. Since moving to New York in 2004, Yaala has performed regularly at local venues like Smalls, Smoke, and Birdland as well as abroad at the International Jazz Festival in Tel Aviv. Her first album, “Travelin’ Alone,” was released in 2009; she followed up with 2011’s “On The Road” which received significant critical praise for its “class, confidence, and sophistication” (All About Jazz). Her most recent recording on SteepleChase records is titled, “Yaala Ballin Sings Irving Berlin”.

    She frequently leads master classes in New York, Europe & Israel, and is an instructor in a US State Department “Jazz Futures” program in Cyprus. She serves on the faculty of the City College of New York.

    DAVE REZEK: Energy, intellect, creativity, imagination, passion & collaboration are on full display when Dave Rezek’s Alpha State Agents assemble. The original music & arrangements are penned and played by musicians with rich, professional playing & teaching experiences from New York & Boston to the entire Midwest, covering Broadway shows to the top large & small jazz ensembles; those whose playground is the Alpha state of mind, where anything is possible.
