A new festival is launching in central Iowa this summer with one major goal in mind: highlighting the state’s homegrown talent. Coined “IowaStock 2017 Music and Art Fair,” the four-day, multi-stage event is set to take place Sept. 1-4 at the Avenue of the Saints Amphitheater in St. Charles, roughly 30 miles south of Des Moines.

The all-Iowa concert, curated by John Narcisse, plans to boast more than 60 acts throughout the Labor Day weekend. Bringing in acts from the Missouri to Mississippi rivers, Narcisse said performers such as Joe & Vicki Price, Bob Dorr & the Blue Band, Dave Zollo, Christopher the Conquered, Beatles tribute Rocky Raccoon & the NOLA Jazz Band are included in the lineup.

The idea of an all-Iowa festival spurred from Narcisse’s want to expose local music, he explained. “This is a chance for people to discover … and a chance for people to walk in the fresh air,” Narcisse said. “ (It’s about) Iowa pride and community.”

Stages for IowaStock will be spread across the grounds at the amphitheater & each comes with a name tied to Iowa: The Discover Iowa stage acts as a main stage; the Janey Hooper Memorial stage features various Iowa music hall of famers; the Iowa Strong stage features mostly country acts; the Legends of Tomorrow stage features up-and-coming acts; and West of 35 stage features acts from outside of central Iowa.
Music begins as early as 9 a.m. during the four-day event and wraps at 8:30 p.m. daily.
Along with music, food vendors, arts & crafts and after parties, Narcisse plans to offer a fireworks show after the first three nights of IowaStock wrap.

Iowa raised opera singer Simon Estes is set to appear at the festival Sept. 3 & 4, Narcisse said. The renowned singer is scheduled to perform Sept. 3 as part of an opera showcase & lead a lecture the following day. “It’s going to be the best music you can hear in one gathering in Iowa, period,” Narcisse said. “Hands down.”

Four-day early bird tickets to IowaStock cost $50, a one-day pass costs $20 &a four-night camping pass costs $300. All IowaStock tickets are for sale via tikly.com.
