Fans will be permitted at Iowa Speedway in limited capacity when the IndyCar series comes to Newton for a weekend of racing.
"A limited number" of tickets will be available for the July 17-18 affair, which will include IndyCar and the ARCA Menards Series races, according to a news release. The IndyCar racers will compete July 17 and then again on the evening of July 18 in the Iowa 300. The ARCA Menards Series Iowa 150 will move to an afternoon race July 18 in the inaugural ARCA “Sioux Chief Showdown,” a 10-race series event.
"Under the guidance of public health officials, medical experts and local, state and federal authorities, INDYCAR and Iowa Speedway will observe safe social distancing and provide enhanced hygiene and safety precautions for all fans in attendance at the event," the release said. "Only a limited number of tickets will be available for the upcoming race weekend, with each group of fans in attendance separated by at least 6 feet of distancing at Iowa Speedway, in order to align with Iowa state COVID-19 guidelines."
