Learn more about Elkader and its fascinating namesake from Kathy Garms and Matt Peterson, both from the Abdelkader Education Project, and John Kaiser, author of “Commander of the Faithful: The Life and Times of Emir Abd el-Kader.”

Their online presentation is part of the “Iowa History 101” series, which the State Historical Society of Iowa offers to commemorate Iowa’s 175th year of statehood.
