Iowa History 101: “We Learned to do the Things That Rural Women Did”

  • Overview

Join Jenny Barker-Devine, professor of history at Illinois College, to learn how Iowa farm women developed skills, forged friendships, and fostered community through extension homemakers clubs. Whether they canned vegetables or studied global politics, farm women worked through their clubs to improve conditions for Iowa's farm families. The online presentation is part of the “Iowa History 101” series offered by the State Historical Society of Iowa to commemorate Iowa’s 175th year of statehood. The event is free and will be recorded, but registration is required. #Iowa175
