Saturday, December 10 is International Human Rights Day & the Greater Des Moines Friends of Human Rights has partnered with Grand View University to host a celebratory event in their Viking Theater ( 2811 East 14th Street) from 9am till noon.

This event is free and open to the public.  Tentatively scheduled:

Welcome - The true meaning of International Human Rights Day.

Larry Berenguel - Vocalist

Human Trafficking - Karen Gale , FBI - Speaking on Human Trafficking in Iowa.

Jenny Scott - Vocalist 

Cyber Security - IT Specialist speaking on the Impact of Cyber Attacks on All of Us.

Professor Kesho Scott, Grinnell College -Title: Old "Isms" Rise Again: What's Human Rights Got to Do With It? Will review the old "isms" rising in a global age but discuss the two-way nature of their impact on doing the work of social justice, law and order, community and identity, and personal responsibility.

Pablo Aguilar Family- Mariachi Band "Las Aguilares"

We ask attendees to consider bringing non-perishable food products to donate to the Food Bank of Iowa. Representatives from the Food Bank will be on hand to receive the donated items
