Overview

Hearts & Homes Historic Teas combine a delicious lunch with a program of readings from the historic pages of the women’s section of Wallaces’ Farmer magazine. The program is held at the Wallace House, in the same rooms where Nancy Wallace edited her Hearts & Homes column from 1895 to 1909. Nancy’s column provided sound advice & thought-provoking commentary still useful today. Laugh & learn during this 90-minute program.

Scheduled throughout the year, “Open Tea” dates accept reservations from several separate small groups. Groups of at least 12 people can schedule their own private program on weekdays, depending on availability. Teas begin at 11:30 am, unless the group specifies otherwise.

Location: The Wallace House, 756 16th Street, Des Moines (16th & Center).

Cost: $22/person inclusive

Since its beginning in December of 2009, the program has entertained a growing number of Des Moines Senior College classes, Red Hat ladies clubs, PEO groups, doll clubs, retirement groups, bridal showers, and the Ray Society from Drake University. Private programs for groups of at least 12 people are available. Call 515.243.7063 for more information. Please let us know about dietary restrictions and accessibility needs in advance.
