Fearless Fridays: Be More. Fear Less.

  • Overview

Join the Business Record to kick off your day the final Friday of each month in our Fearless Friday series! Focused on women & gender topics, you’ll have the opportunity to learn from & connect with others around the state equally as passionate about these issues. Women, gender-nonconforming individuals & male allies are all encouraged to be fearless with us.

January's topic: Power of the people in public office: We’ll talk about representation of Iowa women in government, look at Iowa’s gender balance laws & examine the policies affecting women that are on the docket in the state Legislature in the coming year.

Featuring: Iowa’s Sen. Joni Ernst and Rep. Cindy Axne, who will provide prerecorded addresses to the audience about what it’s like to be a woman in politics and what women considering running should know.

    What are Fearless Fridays?

Fearless Fridays are just one part of Fearless, the Business Record’s multiplatform initiative with women-centered content, events and media designed to help women and the companies and allies who both value and support them. The elements of this brand can be simplified into one goal: We want to help empower Iowa women to succeed in work and life.

Those who subscribe to our weekly Fearless e-newsletter see in-depth, solutions-oriented reporting about gender and family issues. If you haven’t already, we encourage you to sign up for it (it’s free!). While we pay close attention to all current events affecting women, each month we have a focus area that will drive our reporting and the Fearless Friday discussions - see the full list below, and sign up for the whole series.

    Be more. Fear less.
