After a 3-year hiatus 4 members of the Drake Neighborhood have been working to bring Iowa grown fruit and produce as well as homemade local goods, crafts and prepared food back to the Drake community. Eddie Robinson, Jr., Ibrahim Ali, Bill Cappuccio and Michael Christl randomly met last fall and after several conversations felt it was time to serve the community by bringing urban gardening, food and food preparation education and the health benefits of consuming fresh fruits and vegetables back to the neighborhood in a way that many neighbors said they had been missing.
The Drake Neighborhood Farmers Market will provide a mid-week market option for the Drake area – Lutheran Services of Iowa also operates their Global Greens market on Saturdays from 9-1 – 32nd/Univ.
Drake Neighborhood Farmers Market invites everyone in the Drake area to get to know the people who grow your food, learn a new way to prepare or grow an item you have never eaten or grown before and mingle with those you wish you saw more often…all just down the street. Come join in the FUN!
