Art Center+: Feminist Film Screening & Community Conversation

  • Overview

Film is a powerful art form as it layers images, audio, and storytelling in dynamic ways, unparalleled to its still counterparts. This is one reason that many visual artists create films in addition to their primary medium. Join in community viewing, exploring, and discussing the following films created by female artists whose works are featured in Images Unbound.

    Anna Gaskell / Mirror, 2006 / 10 minutes and Erasers, 2006 / 3 minutes
Carrie Mae Weems / People of a Darker Hue, 2016 / 15 minutes
    Cindy Sherman / Office Killer, 1997 / 82 minutes
Martha Rosler / Semiotics of the Kitchen, 1975 / 6 minutes

Please note: These films are intended for adults and contain images that may be upsetting to some viewers. This includes documentary footage of police violence and death, graphic theatrical violence, the suggestion of sexual abuse, and gore.
