  • Overview

On the scenic beaches and monumental cliffs of Ireland, documentary photographer Jordan Gale discovered that the struggles of rural life were not so different from his home in eastern Iowa. In a series of eight photographs on display at the State Law Library, the Cedar Rapids artist examines the fading traditions of Irish and Iowan towns threatened by depopulation. Images of averted gazes and empty spaces highlight socio-economic issues and human relationships in both countrysides, where life, though difficult, can also be a source of pride. Monday-Friday 8-4:30
