  • Overview

Benjamin Gardner's latest series of abstract paintings explores philosophical questions about human existence, both as individuals and more broadly as civilizations. His focus on shifting social customs and cultural trends was recently inspired by Chris Marker's 1962 film "La jetee" ("The Jetty"), which travels through time to shows the rise and fall of various civilizations. In addition to his studio work, Gardner also teaches art and design at Drake University in Des Moines.
