  • Overview

All objects get damaged and break despite enthusiastic attempts at creating the indestructible. Using prints, paintings, found papers and stitches, Des Moines artist Whitney Courtney Nastanovich's works reflect the perceived permanence and inevitable deterioration of tangible objects in the digital age. Through a continuous destruction and reconstruction process, Nastanovich creates a "research tool" that slows and documents its own decline. View the work up close in the "Art at the Café: Attach & Cross-Out" exhibition in Cafe Baratta's at the State Historical Building of Iowa Feb. 1 to Apr. 30. Monday-Saturday. Free admission.
