Ankeny Mayor's Tree Lighting

  • Overview

Ankeny Mayor Gary Lorenz and the City Council invite the community to the fourth annual Mayor’s Tree Lighting. New this year, the event will feature live entertainment from The Nadas! This free event will be held Friday, Nov. 30, 6 – 7 p.m. at AMP (Ankeny Market & Pavilion) located at 715 W. First St. in Ankeny. At 6:50 p.m., Santa will help the Mayor with the official tree lighting and the event will close with a spectacular fireworks finale.
The Mayor’s Tree Lighting is an opportunity to come together as a community to kick off the holiday season. Guests are encouraged to help feed the hungry by donating a non-perishable food item at the event to benefit A Helping Hand, the little food pantries throughout Ankeny. In addition to The Nadas, the event will feature an ice carving demonstration, Santa and Mrs. Claus, face painting and more.
Families are encouraged to return to Uptown Ankeny on Saturday for Christmas in Uptown. Starting at noon, guests will enjoy Santa’s treasure hunt, treats, specials, shopping, gift wrapping and horse drawn wagon rides.
