A Little House Christmas
Head to the Des Moines Community Playhouse for the family-friendly production of A Little Christmas. Follow along as Ma, Pa, Mary and Laura Ingalls gather to celebrate the holidays. Tickets start at $15 and the show runs Friday-Sunday each week from November 3-26.

Iowa’s Premier Beer, Wine & Food Expo
Find your inner foodie and then eat and drink your way through the Iowa Events Center for the 10th anniversary of Iowa’s Premier Beer, Wine & Food Festival. Tickets include unlimited food, beer, and wine samples. Enjoy live music, speakers and activities throughout the day. Plus, a champagne toast! Tickets start at $35 and will give you a day of food and fun!
Des Moines Symphony Pops: The Music of Queen
Listen to the hit music of Queen in this electric symphonic-rock tribute performed by the Des Moines Symphony. The Symphony will be accompanied by a full rock band to perform hits like “Under Pressure” and “Bohemian Rhapsody”. You can also catch Des Moines Symphony Masterworks 3: Ritual Fire Dance later in the month on November 18-19.
East Village Holiday Promenade
This event is a fan favorite. Enjoy free horse-drawn trolley rides from 6-8 p.m., carolers, ice skating, live ice sculpting, a tree lighting at Brenton Skating Plaza, and of course shopping your favorite East Village stores. This is the perfect chance to check out the places you haven’t been to yet as shops will be open late!
Downtown Winter Farmers’ Market Presented by UnityPoint Health
Head to Capital Square and Kaleidoscope at the Hub to purchase from your favorite local vendors. Browse holiday décor, locally raised products, wreaths, homemade jams and more. More than 130 vendors will be on site for this free event.

Disney on Ice
Watch your favorite Disney Princesses skate across the ice at Wells Fargo Arena for as little as $23. This Disney on Ice event will first feature the Princesses and how they learn that courage leads the way. Attendees can then watch Anna, Elsa, and Olaf discover that true love is the greatest magic of all.

Festival of Trees & Lights
Across the street at the Iowa Events Center, you will find an entire room filled with beautifully decorated trees! The Festival of Trees & Lights features live entertainment, children’s activities, food, shopping and more. The best part? Your $5 admission goes to supporting valuable programs at Blank Children’s Hospital.
Jolly Holiday Lights
November 24 – December 30
It’s back! Jolly Holiday Lights kicks off on November 24 at Adventureland Park. Support Make-A-Wish Iowa as you drive 2.5-miles through more than 90 magical light displays. This event has been going on for more than 20 years and year after year it is still a family favorite.
Shop Local Saturday
If you need a good excuse to get out and shop all the local retailers in Greater Des Moines, here is your chance! Shop Local Saturday is a nation-wide event that encourages people to spend their dollars locally. Consider browsing boutiques and shops in places like Historic Valley Junction, Historic East Village and West Glen Town Center. Check out individual districts and stores for in-store promotions, special offerings and hours!
Jingle in the Junction
Celebrate the holiday season with Jingle in the Junction in Historic Valley Junction. This is the perfect time to do some holiday shopping and enjoy more than 150,000 twinkling lights throughout the districts. There will also be free horse drawn carriage rides, Santa and caroling, kid’s activities and more. This event is free to attend.
