Take mom out the first Mother’s Day Prix Fixe menu at Proudfoot and Bird on Sunday, May 8. Executive Chef, Andrew Wilson, has a menu for all ages and pallets. Each reservation comes with a bottle of processo and a basket of pastries. Cost is $80 per person.
Johnny’s Italian Steakhouse
Enjoy a tasty Mother’s Day brunch at Johnny’s Italian Steakhouse in Des Moines on Sunday, May 8. The Mother’s Day menu features de burgo benedict, crab cake benedict, chocolate chip bread pudding French toast, ham and cheese quiche, and steak and eggs. The special menu runs from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. Their dinner menu will be served all day.

Celebrate Mother’s Day at Reiman Garden with free admission to all mothers all day on Sunday, May 8. Explore the grounds and see beautiful flowers. Make sure to stop by and see butterflies from around the globe in the Christina Reiman Butterfly Wing. Reiman Gardens will be open 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.
Spring Fling – A Celebration of Mother Earth and All Mothers
Celebrate all mothers at Sleepy Hollow Sports Park during their Spring Fling – A Celebration of Mother Earth and All Mothers May 7 – 8. Take mom to enjoy the fresh air, food, and shops. The kids can burn energy jousting and playing games of skill. Join them for a Mother’s Day Brunch at 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. on Saturday or Sunday. Brunch is $20.99 for adults 13 and older and $15.99 for kids ages 5 – 12.
Girls’ Weekend 2
Take mom our for a girls night and head to the Des Moines Civic Center to catch a performance of Girls’ Weekend 2. The production follows Meg who’s getting married and is gathering with friends and families for a bachelorette party at a fellow friend’s cabin. But as the weekend goes on misinformation and mixed signals could derail the wedding. See a performance starting May 4. Tickets start at $40.
Winterset Wine Walk
GA glass of wine may just be what mom needs this weekend. In this case, it can be multiple wines when you go to the Winterset Wine Walk at Winterset’s Town Square on May 7. You’ll get to sample locally made wine from Covered Bridges Winery, Madison County Winery, and Two Saints Winery. Tickets are $20 and include a commemorative glass and a coupon for wine.
