Father’s Day Public Pool Special 
Summer in Des Moines is on full blast, and Father’s Day weekend is no exception to the heat. Thanks to Des Moines Parks and Recreation, enjoy making a splash at one of the local public pools. With the purchase of youth admission, dad gets in free! Check out the available pools.

Father’s Day Pop-up Shop 
Is your ideal Father’s Day spent sipping on a cold craft beer? Twisted Vine Brewery has you covered from 2:30 – 5:30 p.m. for not only beer, but cupcakes as well. Always Baked Sweets and Treats will be there alongside Twisted Vine serving up their special spiked cupcakes. You can drink your alcohol and eat it too! There will be regular cupcakes as well, perfect for the kiddos. Father’s Day spent playing lawn games and eating boozy cupcakes? Sounds like a win to us.

Father’s Day Car Show 
Does your dad have a love for cars? Head over to Sambetti’s to take in an array of vintage cars. There won’t be a car newer than 1980, so you can teach the kiddos about all the different car models. Grab a burger and enjoy drooling over your dream cars.

Father’s Day Brunch at Gilroy’s 
Is there a better way to celebrate a holiday than with food? Head on over to Gilroy’s for their Father’s Day Brunch! This meal is served to your table family-style, so grab the family and enjoy a delicious meal while also having meaningful conversation. Gilroy’s will also have live music from Taylor King from 11a.m. – 2 p.m.! Reservations are highly encouraged, so reserve a table at Gilroy's.

Father’s Day Special at the Botanical Garden 
Spend the day exploring nature – both indoors and out! The Greater Des Moines Botanical Garden is offering free admission for fathers on Father’s Day, so you can take the kiddos and learn all about thousands of different plants. Be sure to stop at Trellis Café to grab a delicious lunch as well.  

Father’s Day Golfing 
Is your dad’s ideal day spent swinging on the green? Head on over to Toad Valley for a free round of golf for dad, when another round is purchased. Be sure to book a tee time, and then show up with your dad and you’ll be ready for a day of soaking up the sun on the golf course.

Fourth Annual Wiener Dog Races 
Soak up the sun and watch little dogs race to the finish line this Father’s Day. Prairie Meadows is hosting their annual Wiener Dog Races at 3:30 p.m. These will take place in between heats of their regularly scheduled horse races and are sure to entertain.

IRONMAN 70.3 Des Moines
With another exciting large event coming to town, this would be a great way to spend Father’s Day morning. Cheer on the athletes competing in this triathlon, while chasing them around the city. See them swim at Gray’s Lake and watch them cross the finish line downtown right near the Courthouse. Grab brunch on Court Avenue with your family, and it will make for an exciting morning full of competition.

Father’s Day Fishing 
Is your dad a reel catch? Spend Father’s Day out by the water fishing together. Get over to Terra Lake in Johnston for a special Father’s Day fishing event. You can bring your own fishing gear or they will have limited equipment as well. They will provide tips and tricks to successfully catch fish, all while spending quality time with dad.
