Catch a Bloody Mary in Greater Des Moines

It’s a Saturday morning, the sun is shining, the weather is just perfect and all you can think about is sitting on a patio…with a Bloody Mary…

Lucky for you, Greater Des Moines has plenty of options for a patio and Bloody Mary combo. One option that makes my mouth water is Granite City’s Signature Bloody Mary. They use their signature Bloody Mary mix and Sobieski Vodka. With a celery salted rim and a stick full of garnishes, such as pepperoni, olives and pickles, you are sure to want to order a second.

Downtown for the Farmers’ Market? Not quite ready to deal with the large crowd? Head over to Legends American Grill. Check out their make-your-own Bloody Mary bar and people watch from their patio. The Bloody Mary bar hosts a variety of mix blends and trimmings. After you have had one… or two, I suggest ordering the Legends Nachos – taco beef (or shredded salsa chicken) piled up high on top of tortilla chips. Don’t forget all the toppings: melted cheese, black beans, diced tomatoes, lettuce, jalapeños, sour cream and salsa. Your mouth watering yet?

Like it sweet and mild or hot and spicy? Make it how you want it! At Court Avenue Restaurant and Brewing Company, choose from Zing Zang Bloody Mary mix or their house blend. Add some Cajun seasoning for a kick. Tabasco sauce for the heat. A pickle for the sweet. A lime for the bite. Celery to cool your mouth after each delicious sip. That is only a start of the options you have for your Bloody Mary!

If you are looking to build your own, check out Malo or Centro on the weekends. Plenty of options to pick from and it allows you to be your own bartender! Americana and Mullet’s also serve up delicious bloodys that pair nicely with their long list of brunch and breakfast options.

Where is your favorite place to catch a Bloody Mary? I am always up to try a new one!
