Kites on the Green – Johnston
Saturday, May 7
10 a.m. – 7 p.m.
This event kicks off the month of May! Grab the kids and a kite and get ready to join hundreds of others in Johnston. The third annual Kites on the Green festival features celebrity bol races, free kite building, live music and food. Kids can fly their own kites and also enjoy giant show kite displays. Valley Junction Arts Festival – West Des Moines
Sunday, May 22
11 a.m. – 4 p.m.
No need to wait until summer for your arts festival fix! Check out the Valley Junction event which features local artists throughout the historic shopping district for one day only. Attendees can meet, interact and purchase original work by artists. Plus, you can also buzz in and out of local shops too!
CelebrAsian Heritage Festival - Des Moines
Friday, May 27 & Saturday, May 28
11 a.m. – 9 p.m. & 11 a.m. – 10 p.m.
This annual cultural festival brings two days of music, entertainment, delicious food and friendly competition to Downtown Des Moines. Catch table tennis tournaments throughout the weekend and participate in or watch a Cosplay competition on Saturday. Immerse yourself in cultural traditions and food as CelebrAsian showcases Asian artists, dancers, vendors and educational activities.
