Catch Des Moines (The Greater Des Moines Convention and Visitors Bureau) has an opening for the position of Vice President of Sales. This position is part of the leadership team and reports to the President & CEO.
They will be responsible for developing and implementing strategic business plans including the development of convention sales, sports, servicing strategies and goals as well as formulating a budget to fund the department’s marketing plan and strategic initiatives. They will directly supervise employees in the conventions, sports and services department and carry out supervisory responsibilities.
This individual will serve as the industry expert for the region, informed of industry trends and active in local, regional and national industry organizations. They are responsible for managing the sales and services relationship with partners such as meeting venues and hotels. They will maintain accurate data and statistics on group business in Greater Des Moines by utilizing industry software such as the Event Impact Calculator, Simpleview (CRM), TAP, STR, etc.
The ideal candidate must have excellent communication skills and proven ability to lead, engage and collaborate with individuals across various disciplines, cultures and backgrounds to achieve shared goals, in a team environment.
Requirements include a bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university and a minimum of ten years of experience in the hospitality industry, with a combination of hotel and/or destination marketing organization sales experience.

SPORTS EVENT COORDINATOR
Catch Des Moines (the Greater Des Moines Convention and Visitors Bureau) has an immediate opening in the Sales/Services Department for a Sports Event Coordinator.
This position will work closely with the Director of Destination Services to be responsible for coordinating projects and executing events (both internal and external) for the sports and services team with special focus on support of sports events and re-booking of events. Duties include working closely with clients to provide the best possible experience and unique opportunities for both the planner and the attendees, assisting with managing sports focused project requests through the project management system, preparing bid books, managing the sports market tradeshows and serving on local organizing committees for events.
The ideal candidate will need keen attention to detail and the ability to multi-task and work efficiently and independently to meet deadlines.
Bachelor’s degree in a related field from a four-year college or university, two to three years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.

Airport Volunteers are an integral part of how the Greater Des Moines Convention and Visitors Bureau is able to accomplish its mission of continually reaching out to visitors, promoting Des Moines as an attractive, vibrant and affordable destination and having a positive impact on our community. Volunteers have the opportunity to greet visitors arriving to and departing from the city, as well as answer questions they may have about where to eat, where to stay and what to do while they are in Des Moines. Volunteers man an information kiosk in the public waiting area of the terminal making them easily accessible and welcoming to all. Basic training is provided, as well as other tools to make it easy to promote the city. We are looking for people willing to take on a four-hour time slot each week or act as fill-ins for other volunteers when needed.
